In mid september, I am trying to get from Baumholder Germany to Prague and all I can find are very expensive plane tickets (I've tried all the cheap airlines that I can find) and long train trips (10+ hours) costing around 100 Euros.

Any ideas??

  1. There is one train from Frankfurt(Main)Süd to the Holesovice station in Prague that has discount fares available for as low as 29 euro. There are still spots available on the dates I checked. For example, you can get a berth in a 6 person compartment for 69 euro or a seat in a compartment for 39 euro on the 17th of September. On Monday the 15th you can get a berth for 49 euro or a seat for 29 euro. It's still a 10 hour trip, but you can sleep through the night. The train leaves Frankfurt at 22:19 and arrives in Prague at 8:18 the next morning. http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e...

The Holesovice station is a very short train ride from the main station and there are also trams to the center of the city from there. I usually arrive or depart from there if I'm using the train for travel to visit Prague.
