Question:

Getting glue off glass jars?

I tried boiling juice glass containers to remove the label. The labels came off but so did some of the glue, which then stuck to everything--the metal pot I was boiling in, AND the inside of the glass containers.

The 'mouth' (opening) is small and I can't really scrub that area.

I tried boiling again with soapy water but that did nothing. The glue will spread around when it is hot from boiling but not come off.

What can I use on either the metal pot or the inside of the glass

  1. Peanut butter.  The oil will lift the glue.  Just goop it on and let it sit (the longer, the better).

  2. goo be gone

  3. Try using baby oil on the outside and rub it in with kitchen paper or a cloth. Fill the container up with baby oil to remove the glue from the inside. If you live in the UK you can get something from Bettaware called sticky stuff remover which works well.

  4. Put glass in microwave to soften glue - use cooking oil on soft cloth to remove residue.

Metal - some oil as above on a soft cloth when it is hot.

    Best wishes. UK

  5. Put a few drops eucalyptus oil in a pot of cold water, place jars in and bring to the boil. Allow to simmer for a few minutes , the oil will melt the sticky substance and dissolve it  so its not left behind . Rinse well and your jars are clean and ready to use.   cheers   :)
