Question:

Getting high of CHOCOLATE?

I was reading up and it said:

"Chocolate contains a natural 'love drug'. Tryptophan is a chemical that the brain uses to make a neurotransmitter called serotonin. High levels of serotonin can produce feelings of elation, even ecstasy - hence the name of the designer drug that also works by increasing serotonin levels."

Does it really cause a high?

Which would be the best chocolate to take to reach a potent effect?

Risks?

  1. I never get high on chocolate =S

  2. it can - but not as much as you are imagining.

you can get more tryptophan from an equal amount of turkey.

  3. You can't get high off chocolate.

  4. It's not a drug, and im sure if you ate kilos upon kilos of even the richest chocolate, you wouldnt get high, you will just make yourself sick. Ever wondered why women dig into the chocolate ice-cream when having problems with their bf? It makes them feel better because it releases endorphins.... in fact, chocolate has the same effect on women as s*x, s*x also releases endorphins in the brain. Endorphins is like a happy hormone.

  5. There's not enough of it in chocolate to make that work.

You'd get a sugar rush (and sugar headache) well before you felt any noticable serotonin effect. You'd probably start feeling very very full and vomiting before any 'ecstasy'.

If you're set on trying it though, make sure you use proper dark chocolate, preferably cocoa bars, rather than milk.

  6. I go really high on sugar its fun a bit like getting drunk but not as dangerous i don't think
