Getting in shape for soccer ?

I used to play soccer about 2 or 3 years ago and im taking soccer again this fall. Im athletic but i cant run long distance. What could i do to get in better shape? Ive been trying to jog a mile at least three times a week. help =/

    sit ups

    sprints

    jogging

    skipping


  2. always work out the abdomen too!

    sports like swimming will also help your chances to breathe better while playing on the field. its all about lung capacity when you run all over the field depending on your position.

    i played mid-field a lot so of course i ran about everywhere but i'm not a long distance. i had my short bursts of energy when i played but i made up in tenacity.

    cardio and yoga for flexibility!

  3. Yeah John f is ryt. More of physicals but you have to start little by little then you graduate.Also work with the ball more often to get used to it very much. And always listen to your coach.

  5. Every day go out and run! If you can't run a full mile everyday then run half a mile one day and then a mile the next etc. Also get a ball and juggle and kick it against a wall or something. Also do lots of push-ups and sit-ups. And always stretch! Push yourself past whatever you think you can do.  Good Luck!

  6. play defender or if you got very good reflexes then play keeper

  7. do short sprints in your backyard or on the sidewalk... they are good for improving stamina.. if you want to get more endurance then you have to run 2-3 miles a day. this is the best way to get in the best shape possible before you have soccer in the fall. also here are some things that you can do to improve your skills- juggle, hit the ball against a wall (it is great for improving your reaction time), and set up cones and dribble around them. before you know it you will be in great shape and have really good soccer skills. good luck!!
