I've never been snowboarding before. I'll be taking my first trip to colorado to do so in a month, and I want to get in the best shape I can so I'll be able to board well. What kind of things should I do to get ready?

  1. Deffinately running and/or jogging as with any endurance activity. If you have a balance board, those are great to get the feeling of being back on a board.

Core exercises (abs, obliques and lower back) are crucial too. They will hurt the next day if your not in shape.

  2. do ab crunches.  the day after my first time out this season, i could feel what snowboarding had done to my abs.

  3. I am a snowboarder and have been for 7 years. Every fall, right before winter begins, I do lots of aerobic activity. Yaknow- jogging and running and stuff. ONe really good excersise is standing in the middle of a room, go up on your tip-toes, back down, and again and again and again without letting your heels touch the ground. eventually you will be able to do this on just one leg. These exersises strengthen your calf muscles, a necessity for snowboarding.

I would also try to get your wrists stronger-- the #1 injury for snowboarders is a broken wrist from falling down and trying to catch yourself.

And just a helpful tip-- It took me FOUR YEARS until I was fully confident in my abilities. DONT GIVE UP!!!!

  4. i would run snowboarders need a lot of endurnce rty to do some balancing cause u need balance to snowboard work on leg muscles and stretch
