What's the earliest you can get involved in extra-curricular research in University, and how would you go about persuading professor's to let you accompany them?

The way to become involved in research is to first take preliminary courses in your field and make exceptional grades. Then, as you get into more advanced courses, take them from professors who are involved in research in the area of your interest. Let your professor know of your interest in collaboration.
