I love drawing, and have been told im pretty good at it, i have a portfolio but have never done anything with it, i would like to get my work sent off as i would love to be in advertising or something similar where i can use my talent, i would like to avoid going to do art at university if possible.

Where should i start? i have been told on several occasions to send my work off to professionals, but i dont know where to start, anyone have any ideas?

  1. well, i think some higher level training is very necessary (you don't want to waste your time doing all the wrong stuff, do you?)

my advice: try taking a few classes at a community college, or finding a local arts group that provides some training classes. My experience is that it is cheaper at a community college, and you get feedback from teachers and fellow artists.

You should remember that natural talent can only take you so far...you will be up against a lot of "educated" talent, and you need to compete there for work. Even Michaelangelo had a teacher.

especially if you are wanting to get into advertising..you will need a degree.

  2. if you have good work copy these on photos and take them to arts and craft shows.this will see if what you got is sellable
