Getting into shape?

I love to swim and recently I signed myself up for Bronze Cross (the last swimming level before I can start to do all my life guarding cources). My problem is, i recently had an injury and could do nothing but sit on the couch for about a month and a half. Now I have to get into even better shape than even before I got hurt. I have two months (bacicly the summer) to build up enough muscle to survive my endurance swim and pulling the 250 pound dummy off the bottom of the pool. I've set aside about 30-60 minutes 5-6 days a week, but i don't know what to do with it. Any ideas on how to get real strong real fast plus buil up endurance?

  1. if you wanna build up endurance, you have to build up your heart and your lungs

you do that by doing some intense cardio work, just do a lot of laps for the endurance

and 250 lbs in water is really nothing..... i think you can push off the bottom of the pool also can't you?

holding up a 250 lb object while you swim is more in your legs than anything, so run / swim / do some leg weight training?

  2. Do like a ton of interval workouts. Not evryday or ull hurt ur ankles and knees, (experience). Like warm up for about 5 minutes, then sprint for one, recover for 2, sprint for 1 faster, and recover for 3, and so one untill uv gotton to like 20 minutes then cool down for another 5 minutes. Do it like everyother day and inbetween try some totaly body workouts, a mix of abs, upper body and lower body. (crunches, squats, push ups etc.)

  3. running. alot of swimming laps since you like to swim and maybe sit-ups and some arm exercises
