I'm planning on moving to Las Vegas for 6 months without working just for the experience of it. What kind of paper work will I need apart from my passport? Will I even be allowed to stay for that long?

  1. You can only stay for 90 days in the USA  on a tourist visa and cannot work. If you want to work u will have to get a company to sponsor you and have them fill in the relevant documentation available online at the america department of foreign affairs website.

  2. If you are a UK citizen and have a return ticket and do not have a criminal record You can stay for up to 90 days by filling in a Visa waiver form providing you also have a machine readable passport any longer and you will need a Visa from the American embassy. Check out their website below  to make sure just in case i am wrong

  3. You need to apply for a B2 visa if you want to stay for longer than 90 days.   As well as your passport, you need to provide:-

Firm evidence of your intention to return to the UK at the end of your stay.

Proof by way of bank statements etc that you have enough money to support yourself for the entire stay.

Proof of domicile in the UK.  (Utility bill etc)

Proof of family ties, work ties etc to the UK.

And even after you get your visa, it is no guarantee that Homeland Security will let you in once you get there.  You also need to take all the above proof with you to show them when you arrive at customs.

click on "Visas to the U.S.

The form you need to download print and sign are all there, plus the fees.

  4. You need to apply for B2 visa at US Embassy in your country, if you are approved, you can stay up to 6 months maximum in US.

  5. What are you going to do in Las Vegas for 6 months?  Why do you need six months, as opposed to 3?  It seems like a complete waste of money to me.

  6. A mate of mine has gone to USA on a 90 day tourist visa to see his girlfriend.  He wants to stay longer so after about 80 days he will go to Canada, get another visa, and re-enter the USA for another 90 days.  I don't know how many times he will be able to do this.

  7. That's either an H2A, an  H1b or an H2B visa (depending on the kind of work you would be doing)  with the guest worker program (Department of Labor/Foreign Labor) - and you can't apply for it on your own - you need to find a job first, then , an employer has to petition for the visa on your behalf.

In order to find an employer willing to hire you for the temporary guest worker program you need to apply with a guest worker recruiting agency.

These agencies typically schedule recruiting and job interview sessions in the winter months at the American Embassy in the countries in which they are looking for workers.
