Getting involved in the community?

Ok I know this is gonna sound really dumb lol.

I want to know how I could get involved in my community, join groups or just help out around here. I want to make a difference, the problem is I don't know how or where to do it. I go to college from 9am to 11:50am Mon-Thurs and I know I can fit helping out around here on my schedule, I just want to know how or where.

  2. Are you in the USA? If so, here are several web sites that various nonprofits use to recruit volunteers, and will show you what's out there:

  3. Hello!

Firstly, I believe that your intentions are very commendable!

Secondly, for one to be involved in any community it is imperative to be informed about the community. For instance, what are the problems that are plaguing the community etc.

You could perhaps start off by involving yourself in the community by knowing more about it. This will itself lead you to know what is to be done.

  4. Let me suggest you look around, with your view to helping, and identify an area that you feel needs attention. Open your mind to the larger issues at work. What can work best for everyone is what you have a genuine desire for.It doesn't take long to see the myriad problems endemic to our country. The homeless, crime, pollution, the elderly, inept politicians, etc.etc. all have opportunities for anyone to get involved, especially at the civic level.Once you find an area, you will become aware of who and what may be going on.Also, church groups are helpful, and you do not necessarily have to believe in their particular philosophy. Props to you for wanting to help.
