  1. you should be able to get a 30-day temporary tag from either state for the drive home.

  2. Before leaving to OH bring with you your current insurance card and license. Make sure your grandparents sign the OH title (I think it has to be notarized) as sellers. Take the title, insurance and license to a county clerk office or DMV in OH and get a temp tag that will be good for 30 days so you can go back in WV. They will make copies of your documents but you must "keep the originals" plus the temp registration card they issue. Once you get home you have 30 days to transfer the vehicle over to your name and make sure to add it to your insurance policy. You have to pay sales tax so ask your grandparents for an affidavit of gift but you'll have to pay the title transfer and registration in WV.

  3. I live in Ohio in Athens near WV and I'm an insurance agent and run into this a lot. What you need to do is have your grandparent(s) sign off on the title and have it notarized in Ohio. Then take it to WV, have a WV title made and then you can get your registration, insurance etc.

EDIT: Get the insurance immediately put in your name, if you were to have an accident and kill somebody, the person could back and sue your grandparents because the insurace is in their name. It's best to just do everything at once and put it in your name for legal liability reasons.
