  1. a good diea!

  2. It is YOUR wedding and if that's how you'd prefer to have the music presented, go for it.    Once again, it's totally up to you in regards to how long it will last.  You may wish to hang around with all the guests for 2 or 3 hours or more.  Might be an idea to let people know coming in to the reception that the music will be ending at 10:30 pm (or pick a time that everyone will agree on).

  3. karaoke is a great idea just make sure that there is plenty to drink. that helps bring down peoples intimations and let them be who they are, most people will have a blast. do what you like and enjoy, besides its your day. have fun!

  4. I think it really depends on what type of wedding you are having. This type of entertainment might be better suited to a more informal/casual wedding rather than a formal/traditional one. Just my opinion.

  5. I don't think it would be tacky, I think it sounds like fun.

  6. My friend did karaoke at her wedding, and it went pretty good, BUT, she had a DJ do the majority of the wedding, and saved the karaoke until the end- and she had an open bar, which made the singers much worse, but the liquor made them much more tolerable.  If you're going to do it, wait until the end.  And I wouldn't go as far as to say it's tacky- if you're having close friends and family, I think it would be fine, but if his family isn't into that sort of thing, or you're trying to impress people with a super classy wedding, I might save it for the rehearsal dinner or something.  Good luck!

  7. For the ceremony, karaoke would be a little weird (unless you're REALLY into karaoke).  For the reception (or after-party) I think it's a great idea!

  8. Believe me, I considered that myself.  After thinking about it, I realized that it could get out of control.  People tend to pick boring songs that may others don't like, and there's no end to the misery of hearing people sing off-key.  If you try it, I'd give it a strict time limit- say 30-45 minutes tops.

    Congratulations

  9. My sister had karaoke at her wedding and it was soo much fun and really makes for some fond and funny memories watching the videos of us all now.  Her husband got up and sang "Achy Breaky Heart" LOL.   If you have family like I have (the fun kind who like to have a good time) then it will be just that and not tacky.

We have a DJ and our song list and a karaoke machine.... I figure after a few drinks the guest can do the entertaining so we can give our feet a rest :-)
