Question:

Getting married outdoors in the UK?

Is this allowed? I think I read somewhere that it wasn't legal, but why? It seems stupid, even if our wonderful British weather means that it would probably rain anyway!

  1. Of course its allowed, I think it matters WHERE you get married as opposed to IF you can get married outdoors.

The first thing you have to do is check online for outdoor venues for weddings, then you have to find a registrar that is willing to go to that venue on the date you want.

Good luck it sounds wonderful, and hey if it does rain have a marquee as a standby.

  2. the venue has to be liceneced, but you can get a one day licence (if you want the hassle)

and the person who marries you has to be licenced/registered

  3. It is perfectly legal to be married outdoors in the UK, provided that the venue in question has a licence for the staging of weddings. If you are unsure, enquire at your local registry office, they may have a list of local venues where weddings may be held.
