  1. do lots of looking around... i live in tenn... im doing my wedding for under that!... and its turning out beautiful!

i got a great deal on photography- 250 for at least 300 pictures

i got a great deal on a cake- 100 for a cake that feeds over 150

( both of these are well known people with great review)

the most expensive thing is my dress

which i got from davids bridal for 650 dollars

my advice is do ALOT of looking around... its a necessity for such a small budget....

take it from a bride who is there!

  2. Being a wedding planner, i have had many similar requests.

You need to look around A LOT and dont rule out online buying. It often saves A LOT. Make as much yourself as you can and stay relaxed.

  3. My sister was on a tight budget so she just had a buffet style reception which saved heaps on the food.

Some churches have a hall you can use for your reception, so have a look around and see if any of the churches offer this.  This also saves on travelling time from ceremony to reception!

I agree about online shopping - you can get some amazing bargains that way - especially with wedding dresses/bridesmaid dresses.

  4. Do your homework

I would look for some off the stuff off eBay, I got the bridal party gifts off there, they were excellent!

  5. The venue is the key, you need to find a cheap one. As someone suggested, the public rooms of the church are usually  very cheap, and eliminate the need the need to buy alcohol[it is usually not allowed in the public rooms]. The cheapest venue is your backyard, or somebody else's.

Next is the food, decide how you can cut back. Just have cake and punch? Add appetizers? Sandwiches and chips? A salad luncheon buffet? An inexpensive meal? Breakfast brunch?

The time of day decides what you are having, the earlier you have the wedding, the cheaper the foods, and the cheaper the venue might be. Have the reception at a non meal time for just cake and punch.

Do the invitations yourself from the computer, or buy cheap ones at Hallmark, thus skipping an expensive printing company.

Consider alternatives in choosing a cake, use the grocery baker instead of a bakery. If you have a relative in the business, or just is very talented, tap them. But beware, you might not get the cake you want, and relatives often work on their own schedule that is not yours, or things come up and your cake gets dumped off their schedule.

Consider doing the cooking yourself, yes it is a lot of work, but with a little help, you can do it. Make sure everything you serve can be done the day before. Keep the menu short, and easy. Macaroni salad is cheap and easy, you can make a huge batch of it for just dollars. You can fancy it up for just a little money. Also choose things with a short prep time. Potato salad might be the groom's favorite food, but cooking all those ingredients, cutting them up, and then dressing them is hot and long work.

Shop around for decorations, the Dollar store had cheap ballons,  6 for under $2 here, shop around, you might find something that cheap too.

Save money on your bouquet, do it yourself from flowers you bought at the florist or the bulk dealer, or go silk. They make some amazingly real things, try Hobby Lobby  for the real looking stuff, and Michaels has some too.

Sorry, I forgot you don't live in the US, probably you have the equivalent of these stores where you are.

  6. The less people you invite the cheaper it will be. :)
