Getting my braces off!

What's the most painful part? I have pretty sensitive teeth, so I'm scared about the glue scraping...I had it done to only one tooth before and I felt lightheaded from all the noise :( Is there anything I can do to help?

  1. the glue scraping definitely! you'll be ok ts not that bad

  2. Congrats!  I was so excited the day I got my braces off.  I don't recall it being particularly painful, but definitely uncomfortable.  The worst part for me was my dry lips from being stretched for such a long period of time.  I would recommend moisturizing as much as possible, and take some chap stick with you... if they start to hurt, ask to take a break to reapply.

The drilling sound is so irritating, and its a long time to be sitting in that chair staring at the ceiling.  Bring in an ipod with some good headphones (noise blocking if you have them)... ask your dentist if its ok!  Listen to some music, close your eyes, and try to relax.

And enjoy your new smile!  You'll notice your teeth feel "slimy" for a while... just make sure to note if you feel any of the glue left on your teeth so the doc can go back later to remove it.  Soft foods for a day or so.
