  1. If you're a 13 year old girl, you're probably about finished growing.  Of course it depends on the person and depends a lot on how much you weigh...  my best friend was a lot skinnier than me... I grew when I was 11-12... we had the same size shoe in 7th grade... but then she grew from 12-13.  Either way, you're probably pretty done growing when you're 13.

I'd go and try on a bunch of sizes if I were you.  You probably don't want a 6.5 just in case your foot does grow a little more... I don't see it growing much more, but riding in a 6.5 when your foot is a 7 will probably be very uncomfortable.  I'd try on the 7 and 7.5 and see what you think...  if the 7.5 is way too big, then just go with the 7.  Just think about where your foot is now and how the boot feels... if it's so big that it bothers you, then get the smaller... but I don't think you should get a boot that barely fits right now because if it's tight now, you may end up with a new pair of boots next year too... and $100 down the drain.

For height, again it depends on how the boot feels to you...  I'd get them a little too tall for now...  your boots will bunch up around your ankles no matter how well they fit... so you might as well get some that are a little too big with a little too much bunch so that when you grow, you have a little extra leather to pull up your leg.  You don't want too much bunching...  but a little bit is normal and won't hurt anything.  Also, tall boots will drop as they stretch out...  they might seem too tall to you right now, but the uppers will stretch and end up being a lot lower than what you thought.

As for width...  don't get them too tight...  there's always girls at our shows whose boots are a group effort to get off... she sits, one of us pulls, another of us holds her down...  it's a big ordeal.  There's one thing you can count on in life and that is the fact that you will get wider... particularly since you're only 13.  So don't get them too tight now or else you'll regret it in the future.  But they have to stay up too... don't get them so big that they move around on your leg.  Once you grow a little wider, you can take your boots to a place to get them let out a little... they'll put elastic in the top to make your boots a little bigger for you.

Brands: the absolute greatest boots around are Ariats... but as with anything great, they're expensive.  If you're looking at the future and thinking that you might end up buying new boots once you're really grown you should probably get something a little cheaper.  Ariat makes really great custom boots that they will make fit your leg and they have a warranty so they'll fix things forever.  But getting custom boots when you're 13 and aware of the fact that you're not done growing, is probably not such a good idea.  Another really good brand that's a little cheaper are Devon Aire boots...  if you're thinking of buying new boots in the future, I'd suggest getting the Devon Aires now and wait until later to get the Ariats.  Devon Aires are really good boots too... that's what I have...  if you're stuck with them forever, it's not a bad thing.

When you go to get your boots, the person at the store should be familiar with boots and growing issues...  they'll be able to help you too.  Make sure to ask what they think would be best.

  2. ALWAYS get a little bigger calf size!! this is crusial. I've been jumping for 5 years and trust me, you want to listen. you can go with your same shoe size though. i recament getting used boots if your going high. That way there a little brokin in so you wont get as sore. =]

    good luck
