Question:

Getting my license but I got a speeding ticket?

I got my permit when I was 15 and I got a speeding ticket one month ago. I did some service and I have no points on my record. I turned 16 just recently and I want to try to apply for a license but it says I can not get one if I have had traffic convictions in the last 6 months. Does it still count as a traffic conviction? And when you go to get your license, will they even check to see if you have any traffic convictions?

  1. Yes they will check. You will not be driving in the foreseeable future. Get a bus pass or ride a bike.

  2. Speeding ticket does count against you. Wait the 6 months. And yes, they will access DMV records to see if you have any moving violations. If you lie, it will make matters worse.
