I called the dude and he said that it doesn't matter what age you are as long as you have a parent there. So, my mom is coming with me to sign the thing and all, but do I still need a birth certificate?

Also, does it hurt badly? Tell me about your experience :]

  1. i think you should bring it just in case. last time i did it, they wanted to see proof if they were really my parents.but anyway, it doesn't hurt. the clamp hurts more so you can't feel the needle going in. : )

  2. How old are you? It sounds like it could be a dodgy place to me if it says it doesn't matter how old you are. If you're still growing, the piercing could migrate and leave you with an icky scar that CAN'T be covered up.

Birth certificate might not be necessary, but bring it just in case.

I got mine done in June 2007 and it was 0.1 out of 10 on the pain scale.

The place was spottlessly clean and everything was sterile. The staff had many piercings on themselves and were realyl friendly and happy to answer any questions.

I filled out a healthcare sheet before going in and I chose the jewellery I wanted.

The piercer took me to a special room and wore a fresh pair of surgical gloves, put two dots of purple iodine on my tummy and asked me if I was OK with where they were. I said yes and he said for meto do some deep breathing and wriggle my toes while he put the needle into the fistula (tunnel where your jewellery goes through), VERY quickly followed by the belly bar.

I did some breathing techniques and wriggled my toes when the piercer told me to so - barely felt a thing!

It couldn't have gone better if I dreamt it and I almost forgot to pay afterwards!

I had a special dressing on it, which I was meant to leave on for the first three days (although it stayed on a week or two).

Follow the piercer's instructions for aftercare TO THE LETTER and be very careful with it

Leave it alone for the first week or so

No tight waistbands/tight tops/sleeping on your stomach for the first 3-6 months

Salt soaks are best for it, and it's best to only clean it when it goes crusty, otherwise it could well reject

it can take up to a year to heal fully

I hardly know mine's there unless it gets caught (NOT pleasant!!)

If you're under 18, PLEASE reconsider and think VERY VERY CAREFULLY.

I wanted my belly pierced since about 14/15 and I got it done when I was 19 (Celebrate surviving my first year of university).

I know this is a UK site, but I think that both you and your mum should read this to get an idea of what a good piercer is all aobut. http://www.bodz.info/ - check out the sections called Is it for me? and Under 16's

Also, have a look on BME's navel section and CHECK OUT THE STORIES here: http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/07-navel/b...

PLEASE read this through very carefully - with your mum as well - and have a good long hard think. A piercing is NOT something to be entered into lightly.

If you do get it done, I hope it brings you as much joy as it has me

  3. bring some sort of ID with you just in case they ask.

And it actually doesn't hurt at all...i did it when i was 16 and i was terrified when the girl was preparing the stuff...but i didn't feel a thing. it was over within seconds!!

  4. I would say if he didn't mention the birth certificate and said you only need your parent there then you probably don't need it.

Cannot help on the pain thing - have never had mine done but have a former co-worker who had it done.  Said it hurt initially but the pain soon went away.  Her problem was the she said it snagged on her clothing quite and bedding quite frequently.  This was bothersome enough for her to decide to let it grow closed.

    Best of luck

  5. well by rights you have to be at least 16 to get your navel pierced and if he does pierce you he might be able to get in trouble cause 16 is the age limit only because your body is still growing and it can grow out and change position.  I know for a fact my body piercer won't pierce any one under the age of 16 cause its the law and she turned down so many girls under the age of 16.

Check the laws where you live about when you can have a body piercing. Most body piercers will not pierce a person under the age of 16 or 18 except with signed parental consent.

Although this may seem unfair to younger people who really want a piercing, these rules are in place for a number of reasons. Firstly, your body is still growing and this means that the piercing can grow out or change position. Secondly, a piercing could be seen as child abuse especially if it is in a private part of your body.

all piercings hurt no matter what you get done some just hurt more then others and it only hurts for like 30 sec it just depends

i got mine done at 23 and im 24 going to be 25 in oct. the lady marked me with a marker and then she told me to see if it was straight and then she put clamps on me they didn't bother me, and then after that she told me im going to feel a little pinch i didn't feel it at all and when she said i have the needle through and im like i didn't feel it at all and then she put the curved bar bell through i never even felt a thing and after that she put the balls on and i didn't feel that either. mine never got infected, no after pain, no soreness and no redness. it felt like i never even had it done i had to look a few times to see if it was still there honest to god. it will be 2 yrs next month and im getting my left tragus done in 2 days..

everyone pain tolerance is different some say it hurts like h**l, some say it hurts like a bee sting and some say it don't hurt at all, some get red, sore and really bad cramps and then some don't get any at all. it just depends on your body.

my friend got hers done and she said it hurt like h**l getting it pierced and she said that clamps are the worst part and the needle when she was piercing was so sore she couldn't bend down to pick anything up and my cousin said the same thing and but hers got infected and it was really sore and she had piercing cramps like she was on her period and my friend said the same thing....

  6. Hey! Well i got mine pierced about 2 months ago but i'm 16 so i didnt need a guardian there. but yeah maybe take some identifcation with you just incase. Mine didnt hurt to hurt, its over in like a few seconds and its soooo worth it. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being bad) i'd say it was a 4?

So good look and lok after it well, i use saltwater and savalon spray for mine and its healing great!

  7. you wont need birth cert no...

cousin who is here with me says...

hurts 5 out of 10 on the scale, hers healed great and she loves it:-)

    good luck

  8. well how old are you cuz all places you have to be at least 14 even with a parent with you otherwise you can sue them

  9. I doubt you'll still need a birth certificate if your mum gives her signature.

my friend got hers done a few months ago + i don't think it hurt very much, but she did throw up afterwards because of all the nerves and whatnot.

I am getting my belly done in 8 months, i cant wait!

I hope yours goes okay and you dont find it too painful! (:
