Alright well I ordered a new phone line with at&t and they told me that someone would be up on friday (Today) between 8-11am. Well the guy came and told me that he needed to mark something on the box outside for the person who was going to get it installed. WTF did he mean? When would the next guy usually come to do that?I was told, on the phone, that the local line would start working today, and the toll free number would start working on monday:-\.. Huh?

  1. Basically the line needs to be installed at the MPOE(minimum point of Entry) The toll free number is a virtual number that gets pointed to you line. Sooooo the main line has to be installed first and then your toll free number will start working. By the way you might want to call ATT and ask them about Blocks of Time for your long distance. Ususally they like selling the customer unlimited long distance, which does not cover the call coming through your toll free number. Good luck.

  2. AT&T is a reseller of land lines. They buy the service from whoever the local land-line company is and resell it to you. The guy there probably was from the local company getting the service ready for AT&T. Basically, AT&T was his customer, not you.

  3. having a toll free number I assume that you are a business... the phone company is going to bring your lines to the NID or DEMARC, and your own inside wiring tech needs to complete the inside wiring, and any phone system wiring that you need...

  4. it would be MUCH more inexpensive and MUCH less of a headache if u got a videophone (which I have, where I can "see and talk" to my family members in other states) or the DTA 2 port adapter for only $24.95 a month! We love this service SO much.. check out www.5linx.net/lab to find all their features/plans, etc...hope this helps cuz at&t is a joke!!
