Getting my sattalite without a box to play through the surround sound?

my tv in the living room does not have a box for the dish network. i can get my surround sound to play dvds, but i cant get it to play the satallite. how do i hook everything up?

Have you tried looking in the users guide/manual?

There is a whole slew of useful information in it.

I am assuming your tv must use the Cable Card system if you do not have the satellite receiver box.

you need to connect the audio output from your Tv to your surround sound system via the digital audio output. If your TV does not have the digital audio output then you can only use the left and right RCA style audio output. UNfortunately this will not provide 5.1 surorund. It will only support 2 channel stereo.
