Getting my teeth cleaned at the denist next week

what exactly do they do and does it hurt. if it involves cold water, then thats bad as some of my teeth are quite sensitive

They do use a water spray to clean all of the teeth whitening paste off. They also scrape plaque and other gunk out of each tooth. If you know your teeth are sensitive just warn your dentist before they start.

They use a water spray to clean away the rubbish round your teeth.  If there is hard plaque they will carefully scrape this away with a specially shaped tool.  To finish they will polish your teeth with a powder and a small buffing wheel.  I have had mine done numerous times over the years and its OK so don't worry.

Sarah I hate going to the dentist just thinking about it makes me tremble, but they should not be hurting people, explain to your dentist that you have sensitive teeth, sensodyne toothpaste is good, if you are not already using it, start using it now as it does help, and rub some into the gum line. I prefer the gel.

Don't worry about it, it won't take long.

Yes, they do use water to rinse out your mouth every now and then, just tell them before they start that your teeth are a bit sensitive to cold water.

it doesn't involve cold water, cool maybe but nothing to bad, so it wont hurt your sensitive teeth. the only reason it sometimes can be quite irritating is because they do the same thing over and over again! as long as your dentist is paying attention, they will not scrape your gums while getting off the plaque. (that what they did to me. D,: and it wasn't very pleasant.)the differant things that they do usually include: (well i dont really know for sure what they do, because i cant see it but..)

scrape off plaque

put some cleany stuff on them

rinse with baking soda stuff (it tastes yucky)

DO THAT ALL LIKE A MILLION TIMES

then you get to pick something from the treasure box (jk) lol :)

then you get to go home! (thats the best part!)

its not to bad it takes about 15-30 min, depending on the dentist
