Biggest thing-it will be mountain biking. I am not knew to the whole bike scene, but should I get them padded shorts? Spandex or regular looking shorts with padded briefs? T Shirt fine or spandex there as well? The boys are 11 and 13, almost 12 and 14. Both sweat a good deal. Don't want them getting chaffing as I did when I was younger and did not know any better. Any postivie comments welcome.

  1. get the boys chamois cream. There are a few different brands out there...Butt Butter, Assos, u.s.w. Look on www.performancebike.com or any similar website. Then stick with the previously mentioned cycling shorts. If they aren't into wearing spandex, you can even get regular baggy shorts with a spandex/chamois insert so you don't have to sport the traditional cycling shorts.

  2. Moisture wicking shorts and shirts would be appropriate for this event as it would keep the chafing to a minimum.

they may want to consider some talcum powder to help ease the chafing as well.

Padding on the shorts is optional and depends on personal preference. If their bike saddle has a padded gel cover, it can eliminate the need for the padded shorts.
