Question:

Getting new cell phone...Glimmer or Scoop?

Hello I'm getting a new cell phone in a couple days, I have Alltel. I'm leaning towards the LG Glimmer AX830 it has the sliding keypad and the touch screen, I was wondering if anyone has this phone and what you think of it, is it a good phone to get? They also have another one called the LG Scoop which has a keyboard that slides out on the side, any reviews on that that one? I can get the scoop free and the Glimmer will be $130 after contract and 3 rebates.. I don't ever really use the text messaging but would be a handy feature to have anyway, but the touch screen also seem really nice. So it would be nice to get reviews on either of these phones.. thanks!

  3. Sounds like you're in the same predicament as me. I was looking into the Glimmer as well!

I have the LG Rumor from Sprint [the same thing as your desired Scoop from a different carrier].

Basically, I hate it. The camera is horrible, and may I emphasize HORRIBLE, no flash, no zoom, bad quality]. The Scoop does feature a full-qwerty key board, but even though the individual letters make it more convenient to type, the rate at which the keys produce the letters is extremely slow. Often times I find myself texting with the front keys, rather than the slide out keyboard.

The Glimmer is a very attractive phone with touch screen features. It does not feature the slide out keyboard, but I promise you the Scoop's keyboard has proven to look a lot more effective than it actually really is. The Glimmer's camera is a vast improvement to the Scoop, [the Scoop has 1.3 MP while the Glimmer has 2. The Glimmer camera has zoom, flash and light editing features while the Scoop does not.

I am so excited to purchase the Glimmer. It's sleek, attractive, and not incredibly expensive. The Rumor, although less expensive, was designed to be a 1st generation LG EnV competitor.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

In my opinion, go for the Glimmer, I haven't met a person who has had negative reviews about it. On the other hand, I can almost count on my fingers AND toes how many have had issues with the Rumor/Scoop/UX-260.

Good luck, and hope I helped! :]
