Question:

Getting ready for tattoo

So i am planning on getting my first tattoo in about a week's time, next wednesday to be exact cause i have wednesday thursday and friday off. I was just wondering if there is anything else I can do before I get the tattoo done. I've been to the shop and have talked to the guy who will do it, who was recommended to me by a friend. He's really nice and has a great portfolio. The place is plain, but very clean and he even showed me around and talked to me about my design. I've started taking a multi-vitamin every day along with drinking lots of water and rubbing lotion on the area to be tattooed a few times a day. I've bought some A D ointment with aloe and zinc and some non-scented Johnsons baby lotion for after care. I've also picked up some sterile cotton swabs, non-scented mild soap and some large band-aids to keep it covered under my clothes.

Is there anything else anyone would suggest doing to help me prep for this tattoo?

BTW- its going to be the bass and treble clef in the shape of a heart on my hip

  1. It sounds like you've done your research! I've 4 tattoos and you have everything that I did. Good Job!

  2. I've never done any of that and mine turned out fine!

    So dont worry.

But I wouldnt use any form of body lotion on it after, just an antiseptic cream and most places wouldnt recommend plasters either, they will normally put cling film over it instead.

No prep needed, its the aftercare that counts.

  3. Wow... good for you knowing what needs to be done to take care of your investment! Sounds like you pretty much have it covered. I never even went to that extent and I have a good 15 hours of tattooing done. Just make sure while you are applying the lotion during the after care, you dont apply too much. You dont want it to be "gooey" you just want it to be nice and moist.

Your design sounds super cute!! That should look real good.

    Good luck!

  4. i didn't do any of that and everyone of my tattoos have been fine. just make sure they are new needles and that you look after it after you have had it done good luck x

  5. I think you're doing as much as you need to.

And that design sounds really cool! Do you have any graphics of it? I'm interested in what it looks like. Anyway, good luck, I'm sure it will look great.

  6. that sounds great, the lotion and vitamins you don't need but it wont hurt and i never put lotion on mine just A&D ointment, i think you sound be fine
