Ok so on september 2nd i have the 2 mile jv race for my school. Im in 8th grade and about a month ago at our first practice i got first and did a 12:18 2 mile. So now im looking to get 11:56 which is an average 5:58 per mile. My best mile is 5:20 so i should be able to do it but any tips for the real race. Oh im a front runner and i dont like being close to anybody and i hate sprinting to the finish, i just go all out the whole race.

  1. You seem realistic in your approach.

I think it is great that you know what sort of runner you are ie frontrunner.

You should really work on your sprinting, it will improve with practice.

My suggestion to help with your sprinting is have one day a week for this training session. Something like 6 - 10 x 100m sprint/ jog 300m with warm-up & warm down also. Also on some of your normal runs, at the end do 3 x 100m sprints and then an easy 5 min. warmdown

  2. What I would suggest you doing is really sprinting in the end. Cause most people do, or in fact, almost everyone sprint in the end. Going all out in the race is good, but save the best for last. It'll look good in the end too when everyones cheering you on. I would say you should work on your sprints in the end. Trust me, you'll probably pass a lot of people in the end if its a neck on neck run against another person. Good luck! & Take my advice for it: Sprint in the end! (:
