Getting rid of bugs in a house?

Question

Other than hiring an exterminator, how do you get rid of bugs ? We've never had this prob b/f when we had linoleum (we had our house renovated) Now we have tiles... It prob has nothing to do w/ it but what could we do other than sweeping our floor ? I swept & found a few bugs... I think they must be in every room ! even in the tub !!! I saw a lil worm & it must have came up the drain... I even found a woodtick on something that was on the COUNTER !!! :| How could a woodtick get on something like that ??? It grossed me out cuz under normal circumstances you find them ONLY on peeps... Thanx a bunch !!! :D Oh yeah, some bugs have prob found their way in on our laundry (which is near some trees...) I found some bugs on my son's crib sheets... EWWWW !!!! Also, it is summer... & I heard of an outbreak of some kind but I don't think those bugs are here... They'd be in the trees falling on the sidewalks/street (which we don't have). Thanx !

If you like me , i have pets and small kids in the house so i rely on homemade remedies to kill bugs

The woodtick probably came in on someone, and then jumped off.  I'd recommend recaulking all the windows if they are coming in through there.  It will also save you some money on your energy bill.  Make sure you have no tears in your window and door screens too.

There are some traps than can be used to kill insects.  If they are coming in through the walls, buy a pellet compound and sprinkle it around your foundation.  This should shield the house a bit better.
