  1. why cant you kill them??

if they are in some sort of cage then place some mouse traps with penut butter on them and stick them in there or in another cage and transfer them in the other cage and the traps will get them really fast..then just stick them in a plastic bag and put it in ur trash can outside.

we had lots of rats in our attic and we put those big rat traps up there with penut butter on them and we got rid of them really fast.

  2. Most snakes people keep as pets are too small to eat rats!  Urgh.  Sounds like you have a problem.  An exterminator will probably take them off your hands, but for a price.  I would recommend gassing them yourself.  Not a fun job, but that's just what the exterminator will do.

  3. I applaud your humanity, but there are 3 reasons why your plan may not work: Most pet reptiles eat mice, not rats.  Reptile owners are wary of feeding their snakes wild rodents due to diseases and parasites.  And a feral Norway rat can injure or kill a tame reptile if dropped live into a terrarium; the rodents are vicious.  Sorry.

If you release them, chances are 9 out of 10 they will return.  Rats have an uncanny sense of direction and usually return to their habitat.

One quick way to solve your problem: fill a large trash can with water and sink the cage into it.  It's more humane than letting the rodents go without food and water (I'm assuming you're not feeding and watering them?).

Whatever you do, don't house your wild rats indoors with you, they carry fleas and a laundry list of diseases.  Hope this helps.

  4. you dont have to kill them, you can set them free far away from locality...

  5. please be careful because rodents may be diseased or infested with fleas or mites, wear gloves when handling and disposing of.  Also place carcasses in a sealable plastic bag and burn them or bury them. Keep children away from living and dead rodents.
