About three days ago i tried to download a program, but then AVG told me it was a win32/sality virus. So i deleted the program i downloaded then ran a virus scan and it came up in it. I restarted the computer, re ran the virus scan and it was not there. Now today there was a pop up from AVG that said there was a sality virus in my computer. What do I do?

  1. Do a full system scan, it will scan every single file, drives, the system memory, network and hard drives etc. on your computer, that should work.

  2. Sometimes these type of virus make changes to your registry, that allows them to reload themselves from a back up.  I would run windows restore and go back to a restore point prior to having this problem.  (Maybe a day or two prior)

After the system reboots, you should do a full scan of all files.  This have fixed problems of this nature for me in the past.

  3. Are you healing or moving it to the vault?

Delete all of your restore points as well.

Start > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup > Advanced > Delete Restore Points

Do a disk cleanup as well

Clean out all temp files, etc.

Run another scan - make sure to MOVE TO VAULT or HEAL.
