Getting rid of small black ants?

In the yard there are lots of small black ants. What is the best thing to get rig of them? They are real bad out by the sweat gum trees. What do you use?

in australia there is a product named wetter soil  u pour a bit into an ant hole and when it rains the product is taken down deep into the nest and drowns them.

if you cant get that stuff then boil some water up in your kettle and pour the boiling water down the ant hole and watch the results, cheers peter.
