Getting rid of the Gold...?

I have a 1998 Ford Contour. It is in very good condition, so i have no reason to sell it until i move next fall. However, I am tired of the gold color... I'm thinking a dark purple paint just plain jane nothing fancy.

average cost?

Will it last (not peel)?

  1. I will have to say it is going to cost about $5,000 for a decent paint job. I would keep the gold color instead of purple. Don't make the mistake of going to Earl Scheib like I did. They will paint over your car and about a year later the old color will show through because the paint will peel. The purple car you have will become purple and gold. Not a good combination.

  2.   Lasting and peeling depend on preparation.Macco does a good job for what you pay, the only thing with Macco is their jobs are hard to match. So if you don't plan on wrecking it and don't plan on keeping it long, give them a call I think estimates are free.

  3. easily over 2 grand to switch colors
