  1. You will need a wormer from your vet to kill the worms. I recommend Drontal. You will also need to treat your cat with a flea treatment. I recommend a Capstar pill to kill the fleas instantly and then Frontline Plus spot on to make sure your cat does not get infested again.

Do NOT use OTC wormers. They are not safe and can kill your cat. Not to mention they don't work very well. Wormer is a pesticide, so don’t be cheap when buying it. Do what is safe and buy from your vet.

  2. Over-the-counter worming medications don't have enough punch to knock out worms for good. No home or folk remedies have been shown to be both effective and safe enough to get the job done, either. Prevention is the best cure, but if your cat does have worms, get the right medication in the right doses from your veterinarian.

  3. The easiest and best thing to do is take the kitty and a stool sample to the vet.  Most likely they'll give the kitten a dewormer if he's at least 6 weeks old. With the stool sample they can also test for tapeworms, which are not covered with a standard dewormer.  The kitten should also get a check up to make sure he's healthy and if he's healthy enough and old enough (~8 weeks) then he can get started on his vaccinations.  Dewormers at the vet are pretty cheap - it's $12 at mine and the checkup is $35.  You could call around to a few vets to find out what they charge since there can be a lot of variety.  Cheap isn't necessarily a good thing, so try to get some reviews from friends with pets.

Congrats on your new pet!  You've saved a life.

  4. You can get a list of low cost vets through you local humane society some have a clinic associated with them.  Regular vets can be expensive.  It is best to start off with a check up at a vet to ensure he/she is healthy and they can help scooter not scoot.

  5. you should take it to a vet they would give hi many medication he would need
