Question:

Getting shoes to stay on my feet!?

Whenever I try to wear pumps, ballet flats, anything that fits lower on the foot without a proper ankle strap, I find myself walking out of my shoes --my heel tends to come out of the shoe when I am walking.

I never seem to see other girls with this problem --is there some technique to walking in shoes like this, or am I buying the wrong shoes, or are my feet shaped wrong, or what? I don't want to give up and only wear sneakers/boots/backless shoes, but it's frustrating!

  1. Buy little heel pads - they are sold in CVS and everywhere else - and attach them to the inside of the back oft the shoe. That will solve the problem with the current shoes.

I wonder if you are buying shoes that are slightly too big.

  2. You could be buying shoes that are slightly too long or a little too wide for you. For instance, if you wear a size 7 shoe and it is only coming off of your heel, you might want to try a narrow size instead of medium, like a 7N instead of 7M.

If your heel and your arch are both coming out, then you could probably wear a half to one size smaller.

I have found that my feet swell during the day and that the best time to buy shoes is in the morning to get a true fit. If I buy them in the evening when my feet are swollen, I normally need a 1/2 size bigger shoe. The only problem with buying them in the mornings is that if your foot tends to swell, you are going to need to wear them around the house to break them in before you wear them outside.

When you buy your shoes, try them on during the morning and again in the evening, but don't scratch up the bottoms, in case you need to return the shoes for a different size. That way, you shouldn't have any problem returning them because the soles of the shoes won't be messed up. That is when a store won't take shoes back.

If that doesn't work for you, try buying some Dr. Scholl's inserts to put in your shoes. I like the gel inserts with scent (deodorizers) when I can find them. They will help take up some room in your shoes, help support your arches and they should make your shoes more comfortable when you are walking.

I think this might be of some help to you because I have had the very same problem. I'll buy shoes at night when they feel the most comfy, then in the morning when my foot is smaller, the shoes tend to flop on the back of my feet. I either go back and exchange  them for a narrower pair, a half size smaller or I'll go buy some insoles if they don't make the shoe in narrow sizes or half sizes.

Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, and Walgreens usually have a pretty good supply of different kinds of inserts for shoes.

    I hope this helps!   ☺
