My husband has a bach in sociology and a minor in business addm. But is having such a hard time finding a job here in Oregon. We got in a car accident recently that has made it so I cant work at all and he is limited to what he can do. So he decided to go back to school for a more specific degree; accounting. Anyways he did everything right with applying, doing it as early as possible ect. Then ON the day we were told we would get it for sure, they said we had been “randomly selected” to be verified. He called and they said we would have to send our taxes in and fill out a bunch of worksheets, and it would take 2 to 4 weeks for those to get approved! So we did that, and 3 weeks later it got approved but their were more worksheets!! We asked and they basicly said their was no reason for those to be on there, but since they were we are going to “just have to do them”!! And those are going to take ANOTHER 2-4 weeks to get approved!! Then after those we would have to accept the award amou

  1. The federal government randomly selects 30% of a school's applicant pool for verification.  A school is required by federal law to ask for the additional materials before a student's aid eligibility can be determined.  I suggest having your husband set a face-to-face meeting with the director and go over his file.  If some paperwork was asked for incorrectly he/she can probably waive the request and get the file completed sooner.

  2. Yes, I myself am getting verified, mind you this process started in I beileive in late april or early march, and is still going on they havent released my aid yet.  Every time I call its somthing different and rude.  Financial aid officers in most schools are extremly rude and inconsiderate.  Trust me you are not alone, my friends and couple co-workers were just having this conversation about two hours ago.  You just have to be very very very very patient with them to get what you want. I think most of them are bitter at the fact that they probably didnt get a college education or just got an AA or something, and here you are trying to excel and you want them to help you.

    Just exercise lots of patience.

    Good Luck!!!
