I have smelled roadkill skunks, but how does fresh skunk spray actually smell? Please list your source (were you sprayed? Your dog sprayed? etc.)

  1. I've skinned a few skunks and one mistake with the scalpel results in very aromatic hands for awhile. The description posted was a good one -- like the roadkill but worse, much worse.

The reason a douche or tomato juice works is that they are both acid. I'll bet that if I had dipped my hands into concentrated sulfuric acid immediately, that would have gotten rid of the small -- along with my skin, muscles, tendons ...

  2. it does smell alot like the roadkill but it can be different depending on the amount. When my one dog got sprayed I ran around the house because it smelt like rubber was burning some where. When the side of my car was sprayed, my brother said it smelt like I was smoking really good weed in my car (how he knows, i don't ask) but last weeks dog chased a skunk and I saw him get sprayed in the face and it smells like really strong roadkill...and wet dog on top of it. If you thinknsokething is skunked, use Dawn, Hydrogen Proxcide and Baking Soda. Dawn resolves the oil based spray, Proxcide resolves the irritant, and then then bakingnsoda absorbs the smell.

  3. I am a wildlife rehabilitator, and while I have never been sprayed, I have spoken with several people who have been sprayed many times (rehabilitating skunks).

The word is that it smells like what you smell on the road, but MUCH stronger. It also tastes horrible.

And for anyone who is unfortunate enough to get sprayed, the strangest thing is effective at getting rid of the stench: douches.

  4. gyahahaha..
