Question:

Getting started in BMX freestyle?

I am in my young thirties, but am very athletic and would like to get into BMX freestyle as I've always been a bicycling enthusiast my entire life and freestyle looks like a lot of fun.

First, I am wondering if when I go to skate parks to practice if I will be the only person of my age there - i.e. - is it just ridiculous to consider this activity at my age, or are BMX people pretty open to whoever wants to practice.

Second, I'd like to know what would be a good starter bike. I'd like to get a bike that comes pre-made with the pegs and standard stuff I'll need to learn tricks on.

  1. Freestyle is a TON of fun. There are older people at some of the skate parks and no one will really care that you are there. There are some different types of good starter bikes,, one would have to be a Fit. Another I would say is a Giant, you could also check out a Standard because they are light yet very strong. I would also look into a Redline if I were you.  I hope I have helped and remember, Stick to it for it will be hard at first, and you will need a lot of upper body strength.
