Question:

Getting the ball rolling...?

My husband and I are planning a child in next couple years. The problem begins with he has a vasectomy and a low sperm count on top of that, so a vasectomy reversal seems like a waste of money because the chance of it actually producing a child is slim to none, so we are looking into anonymous sperm donation. We are just not sure how to begin the process. Do we need our general practitioner to give us a doctor referral? Can we find our own doctor? Any tips are helpful, we want to have this happen soon, but we are just unsure how to get started....

  1. Your insurance likely won't help with any of it, you might want to check to make sure though.  If that is the case then I would research some fertility specialists in your area.  Maybe ask if you can meet them in your quest to find the right doctor.  After you find a doctor you like I'm sure they will have all the information you need on getting sperm and doing IUI.  Good luck!!!
