Getting the pictures off my digital camera?

I have a Canon Powershot A630 and I'm trying to get some pictures from it onto my computer, which runs XP Pro. I tried finding the device in My Computer, but to no avail. I tried downloading the driver as well, but it seems one isn't supposed to be necessary for XP.

Any ideas?

Or buy a card reader and you won't have to use your camera at all, saving a lot on your batteries.    You just put your memory card in the card reader and plug it into a USB port on your computer.    They can be found at most stores that sell digital cameras, and cost only about $10.

You'd first need to install the necessary programs and drivers from your camera's CD-rom.  If you have lost the disk, you can maybe download it direct online.

Once installed, I think your problem will be solved and you then can d/load pics off the cam and onto your PC.
