  1. The train actually doesn't go as far as Giverny, it leaves you at a nearby village called vernon, 5 km from Giverny. From there you can either take a taxi, a bus or rent a bike.

I would definitely favor the train to Vernon over a day excursion by bus with 50 other people.

  2. The train makes the trip in 38-46 minutes and for a fare of 11.90 € one way.

  3. You have to take both. You take a train from Paris Saint-Lazare station to Vernon, which takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes. There are 4 trains from Paris to Vernon and 3 trains back daily. You can buy your ticket on the day you plan to go itself at the train station, which I did, but be prepared for a long line. 2nd class round trip costs 23.80 euros.

From Vernon there is a bus you can take to Giverny, which takes 20 minutes. The bus is waiting when the train from Paris arrives at Vernon so just follow the crowd. Most of the people on the train would be going to Giverny just like you. Round trip bus fare is 4 euros. Alternatively, you can take a taxi which would be more expensive, or rent a bicycle. There are bicycles for rental just outside the train station. This is the best way to get around if you have lots of time as Giverny is very scenic.

  4. i was wondering that myself last night.  No kidding!

    Thanks Rilli!
