Hey, I know its a long shot but maybe you guys can help me.

I land in Auckland International Airport and I would like to go to Te Puke. What is the cheapest way to get there?

I have an International Student Card if it helps.

Thanks.

  1. If you dont fancy hitchhiking. Take an intercity bus to Rotorua and then take another bus from there. There are loads of backpackers in Rotorua who may be heading out to Tauranga so I am surte they will be happy to give you a lift for contribution to petrol costs. The best hostel in Rotorua is The Funky Green Voyager, Union Street. The owners are fantastically friendly and the hostel is always full of independent travellers not the ones hopping on and off tour buses.

    Good Luck

  2. If you are strapped for cash mate then your best bet would be to catch a bus down to the bottom of the Bombay hills, then start sticking your thumb out with one hand while holding a sign in the other that says 'Te Puke'. There are plenty of truckies that will give you a lift. They'd be glad of the company too. Now, if you're not too keen on that idea, your best bet would be to catch the bus. But to do that you're going to have to save up all ya cash as it could be quite expensive.

  3. The shuttle is 180 NZD.

There's also Call a Bus, but I didn't research their prices:
