Question:

Getting very basic service?

I want to know if this only where I live or a national trend. I receive the absolute most basic service in places these days. For example, at the dentist, I am never given a clean and polish anymore (though i could do with it), I am only given what I absolutely need (such as filling). Same if I ask for advice somewhere, I only get the least they could give.

When I was younger, people used to be helpful and more caring. The dentist gave you a clean and polish even if you didn't need anything done. People wanted to be kind. These days they can barely be bothered to do what you're entitled to.

Is this everywhere? Or am I living in a bad area?

  1. People are getting poor service because n ot enough people complain.

Vote with your feet, when looking around ask them what you get before you sign up.

I run a water cooler company and service is so important.

You work hard for your money..........get value

  2. If your dental care is free, Like on the NHS then dame, you lucky they even bother to look at your teeth. In fact you lucky you even got a filling, I hear they pulling the teeth out as it's cheaper. Its all down to money. You don't have the money then you get the basics.

  3. I am Scotland and although we moan about a lot of things here on the whole I think we get good service. My dentist always cleans and polishes, I have to pay of course and sometimes it actually annoys me a little because I go regularly and he doesn't even ask if I want it. Next time I'll remember how fortunate I am he does it. Also here we get our 2 check ups a year free and it you are with a NHS dentist part is paid for you for other dental work. My doctor always has time for me on the rare occassions I attend. I have a 90 year old father and he certainly doesn't get basic care from our Social Services, anything but. He has carers in 4 times a day,  7 days week, a person in 3 times a week to

shave him. All his personal care as in showering, dressing, making meals is free and he pays a small amount monthly for his cleaning and shoppping. He has all the appliances he needs to make life easy for him, all assessed by an Occupational Therapist who spends time ensuring he has all the aids he requires. Guess our country is not so bad.

  4. Sadly it seems like "service" is something that died with the last century. At best these days it is service with a grudge. How dare we take up their time by making them work for their pay?

  5. No its all over, they do what they have to do and no more. Some places don`t even give basic service, they give non! What happened to a smile and can i help you? Manners are free so why dont they use them? Lazy...thats why.

  6. Time is money, and money is more important then ever, so generally, people will give the minimum to get the maximum.

  7. I don't live in America but it is happening here to.  You are only allowed to see your doctor for a few minutes and then you are gone.  Even if you ask them questions like Am I dying doc, they always avoid answering you.  I went into a bus station a few days ago to get a timetable and I couldn't find any staff, I think they all take their lunch at the same time.  Same in the post office or if you go into a bank there are only a few staff working.
