Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan confident of winning against England
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791 is ready to put 2010 FIFA World Cup’s disappointment behind him as his national side prepares to take on England in an international friendly at the Wembley stadium on 29 March, 2011.
The Sunderland striker missed a penalty kick against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, which led to his side’s elimination from the competition. Gyan is confident that he is young enough to make amends for his mistake in the next World Cup.
“Sometimes I do sit down and think about it because it would have been the first time an African team had qualified for the semi-finals, and it didn't happen due to that incident. But we have got more years, I am so young. Sometimes, I do think about it
- maybe at the next World Cup, we can do something more,” he said.
Gyan added, “The penalty is forgotten. I just said to myself, there are bigger players than me who have missed that kind of penalty - Roberto Baggio, (Michel) Platini, Maradona. I will just put that behind me and concentrate on my career because if I keep
on thinking about it, it is going to disturb me.”
Gyan is confident of beating England and wows to continue impressing everyone with his performances. He added that before the World Cup, very few people knew about Ghana and now they have proved their talent in front of everyone.
The Black Satellites defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875 3-0 in a 2012 African Nation Cup qualifier and Gyan believes that his side can continue the same performance against the Three Lions on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old wows to give http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 a tough time and insisted that they will not be overhauled by the situation and will just play their normal game. He wants to silence the critics who believe that it was total luck that Ghana qualified for the quarter-finals
of the World Cup.
Gyan joined Sunderland for a club record transfer fee in 2010 and has been a great success for the Black Cats. He insisted that his experience of playing in England will help a great deal in his team’s chances of winning the game.
