Ghanaian Seth Owusu is looking to join the Club Deportivo Chivas USA before the start of the 2011 Major League Soccer season. The player has been loaned to Chivas by the Ghanaian Premier League franchise Kessben. According to the agreement, Owusu will remain
with the team until December 2011, depending upon his performance during the regular season.
Chivas’ newly hired manager, Robin Frasier, already sees a crowded training camp at the Home Depot Centre, as the number of players at the camp has exceeded the MLS defined quota and the head coach has tough task of scratching some players off the roster.
There are some other additions to the Chivas’ camp, as the coach is interested in signing new players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-Salt-Lake-c40339 roster last year, but due to some agreement complications the deal was dropped. Aghasyan
spent some time with Fraser when he was assistant coach at RSL. Chivas are looking to add new players to add some depth in their line-up for the upcoming season, as the competition is getting more balanced and the ability to attract some of the world’s top
players has become easier.
However, the former defender has some specific player on his mind that will certainly join the club before the start of MLS season. Owusu is among those new entrants. Chivas management is eagerly waiting for the player to arrive at the club. The head coach
has been after Owusu for some time now. “I’ve been interested in Seth for six months," the manger spoke of the player. "When I was with Real Salt Lake, I was scouting him. He’s a tremendously athletic player who has good feet and is a good defender with good
experience.”
The player bears versatile skills that will certainly be helpful to the manager in assigning different positions to him in accordance with the situation. Owusu can play in the left-back position and is also fruitful in the centre-back area. This flexibility
has led him to be Fraser’s first choice this pre-season. “We’ll look at him in a number of different positions because he’s a good left back and a good central defender, but the fact that he’s flexible gives us some options,” the manager said.
Due to his tremendous performance in the defensive line-up, Owusu was called-in to join the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 national team last year to take part in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. It will be interesting to see how Owusu manages to fit in and adapt his aggressive
playing style with the Chivas club, as they compete with some of the top MLS teams this season.
