Ghanaian midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and urges the Blues to win at Old Trafford
According to Michael Essien’s agent, the 28-year-old midfielder has no plans of leaving Stamford Bridge in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Ghanaian has been linked with a transfer move, most likely to Serie A giants, AC Milan, but the player’s agent has denied these rumors.
Essien’s agent, Fabien Piveteau, while speaking to reporters, said, “Nothing is true. I have not had any contact either with AC Milan or any other clubs, because everyone knows that Chelsea is happy with the player and Michael is happy at Chelsea”.
By signing an extension last year, Essien has committed to stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the2014/ 2015 season. Piveteau said that the midfielder intends to honour his contract with the Blues.
While this season has not been particularly fruitful for the player or the club, Essien revealed that he was happy with his side’s performance. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international missed out most of last season because of an injury but has been present throughout the
current season.
Chelsea went through a terrible mid-season slump this season which saw them slip from the top of the English Premier League table, giving Manchester United a 15 point lead. However, since then the Blues have improved significantly.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side is currently at second place on the table, just three points behind the Red Devils. With three games remaining and a trip to Old Trafford coming up this Sunday, May 8th, it is possible that Chelsea can defend their Premier
League title.
Essien is hopeful of his side’s chances. He said, “We started the season extremely well, had a sour middle part and are now ending strongly. We have hit a good run of form lately and have managed to haul ourselves back into the title race”.
Although many would consider this season a failure for the Blues, the Ghanaian midfielder seems to differ in this view. The fact that Chelsea closed a 15 point gap in less than two months shows a great deal of the club’s class and character.
Moreover, a win will ensure the Blues a spot at the top of the table since a victory over Manchester United will put them on level points with the current league leaders but ahead on goal difference.
Essien continued, “We have to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend to ensure we are in the driving seat and I can assure you we are up for it. The team is playing well and I have no doubt we will give it everything we have to beat Man United”.
Essien is urging his teammates to give it their best against Manchester United in the upcoming fixture this weekend which can make or break Chelsea’s season.
