Ghizao to swing back for the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Graduation Chase
The Class 2 Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Graduation Chase has collected four four-year-old and above runners. The race will be held at Kempton over two miles, four furlongs and 110 yards on Monday, 5th November. The prize money of the race is set at £10,010.
Even though the Paul Nicholls trained, Ghizao, is not as well seasoned during the current campaign as the rest of the lot, but the hopes of his improved form for the second outing of 2012 are high from the connections’ and crowds’ end.
The shape of the German bay gelding has deteriorated ever since the previous season, as it was back in the year 2010 that he landed his first graded success.
Tiger Hill’s eight-year-old bay gelding won the Grade 2 Independent Newspaper Novices’ Chase (Registered As The November Novices’ Steeple Chase) on 14th November, 2010 at Cheltenham over two miles.
He went over the thirteen fences over good to soft surface under the guidance of jockey, Timmy Murphy.
The winner defeated the favourite entry, Captain Chris, by ten lengths.
The bay gelding out of, Glorosia, then added to his profile a success in the Bathwick Tyres Supports Heros Andover Novices’ Chase (For The Hallowe’en Trophy) on 29th December, 2010 over two miles and 2 ½ furlongs.
Once again the most favoured candidate for the race, Captain Chris, was set aside by 4 ½ lengths by the same team.
Just when the German bay gelding was on his way to strike a hat-trick, he could manage only the fifth position in the Grade 1 Irish Independent Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase on 15th March, 2011 at Cheltenham over two miles.
His chances for today have surged due to the company of the iconic rider, Ruby Walsh.
The 14 to 1 entry, Maggio, is in the process of setting a quality performance bench mark for himself which might pose as a threat for the Johnson & Stewart Families owned, Ghizao.
The most experienced in the current season is the Alan King trained, Kumbeshwar. He has raced seven times in 2012, has won once and ended third in the Grade 3 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup (Handicap). He is backed by 2 to 1 odds in the race today.
