Ghost Recon: Future Soldier gets a release date from Ubisoft
Futuristic tactical military shooter fans have something to cheer about as Ubisoft have confirmed the release date of their upcoming game, Ghost Recon: Future Solider.
Touted as the successor to the ground-breaking Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 or GRAW 2 as it was more commonly referred to, Ghost Recon: Future Solider looks to raise the scale in every department possible.
After a host of trailers, including a cinematic trailer that would not have looked out of place in Hollywood, Ubisoft finally showed-off a live demo of the game at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, during their press conference.
The surprise that no one was expecting was the fact that the game has a squad mechanic with the player being accompanied by three other soldiers, those three other soldiers, it turned out, were not NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) but rather three other players.
The game’s single player campaign supported four player co-operative gameplay, which is exactly what a game with the gameplay mechanics of Ghost Recon needed. Needless to say, it left everyone impressed and the intense action sequences left everyone wanting
more.
It was during that time that Ubisoft dated the game for a release window around March 2012, however, the publisher have confirmed that the game will be hitting shelves on March 6, in United States of America.
Gamers in Europe need not worry as Ubisoft also confirmed that the game would be available for purchase on March 9 in EU or European region.
With a number of games having the word ‘Delayed’ stamped on them such as Batman: Arkham Asylum and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, albeit their PC versions only, there was a collective sigh of relief as it seems no such delay will be hitting the technology
clad future soldiers.
Fans who cannot wait to get a taste for the game need to wait until January at the very least, as Ubisoft have confirmed that they will release a beta version of the game during the first month of 2012.
In the meantime, however, gaming fans have very little to go on apart from the aforementioned trailers and live demo at E3, as the only other bit anyone got to see of the game was at GamesCom. That fragment also turned out to be a multiplayer gameplay trailer.
The launch window is also a shrewd one from Ubisoft, as the game does not have to compete in the hectic and fiercely competitive holiday season.
