Ubisoft has announced that their upcoming third-person shooter, set in the Tom Clancy universe, is no longer on the development table and is in production, all set for its release later on in May.
For those who are not too familiar with the lingo of the video game industry, the term ‘going/gone gold’ may seem confusing and for good reason, seeing how ‘going platinum’ in the music industry has to do with sales.
Well to clear things up ‘going gold’ in the video game industry has nothing to do with sales but rather is signifies that the development of the game is complete, the 'i’s have been dotted and the 't’s crossed, or in gaming terms, the 0s and 1s are all in
place.
In essence, the game has gone into full production and is being copied onto discs at this very moment. The developers will now focus their attention on DLC packs for the game, which will bring additional content later on and will be waiting for feedback
from gamers in order to stay on top of any glitches or bugs that might be found following the game’s release.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on the 25th of May. However, that date is only for the console versions of the game, namely the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. PC gamers will have to wait around three weeks
extra before Future Soldier sneaks its way to them on the 15th of June.
The game is the long awaited return of Ubisoft to their Ghost Recon franchise on the current generation of consoles with their previous two entries, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and its sequel, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, both garnering quite
a fan following during their time.
In fact, the first G.R.A.W was released early on in the Xbox 360’s release period and the visuals of the game really stood out for their time as gamers began to come to grips with what the Xbox 360 and, later, the PlayStation 3 were capable of.
The latest game was unveiled by Ubisoft during last year’s E3 Press Conference and boast four-player co-op play in both online and offline single-player or multiplayer modes.
