Ghost Videos and Pictures: How can I differentiate the fake stuff from the real thing?

I see pictures and videos everywhere and a lot look convincing but when I see comments about them, they all say "Fake! I can see the string!" or something along those lines. I can't tell the difference! How will I know?

  1. There is zero, none, not one single way to tell online.

This is why You Tube Videos, Video from digital camcorders and digital camera photos are useless as evidence.

One needs original photos (and negatives) and original video tapes (or one time use CDs) to examine for evidence of tampering.

Certainly sworn statements, results of polygraph tests and reliable multiple witnesses with a well documented story does help.

  2. They all fake, you can be sure of it.

  3. All of them are fake, or otherwise explained by interference etc.. Spiritual/psychological phenomena cannot be photographed with any equipment we now have. If ghosts showed up on film, they would have been filmed on a million security videos by now.

Now I've seen a ghost, and it's something that should be investigated...but trying to photograph one is like trying to bake a snowflake...it ain't gonna work. People trying to photograph them are wasting their time...or are out and out shysters. (The stuff on TV ALL falls into the later category.)

  4. This actually is a very good question.

There is software that can do this.  Mostly, is just learning how they do it, then paying attention and studying pictures or videos.  Really, if you look close you can see most of what ever they use.

I have included a link at the bottom that shows how to do this with Free software.

Edit:  This is a reference to "show" how to pick up the fakes so that she will know what to look for.

  5. Research, research, research. It is something that you have to learn and educate yourself on. To many people have their own theories on what is real and fake.

The only way you can tell the difference is to keep looking and comparing. Even the most seasoned investigator and analyst  have a hard time distinguishing between real and fake on the net.

  6. Simple. Anything that is esoteric or essence or non-physical cannot be photographed. Not even with the most fancy gear. All those videos and pictures are fakes. You can photograph Auras but you need a special camera. The interesting thing about our Spirit friends is they do manifest themselves in photos, pictures etc, when they are trying to attract your attention. I have several pictures with spirits in them. But the images are very much human or animal.

  7. As an investigator, I can only say that you evedence that you gather is the trueth.  If you are investigating and you gather evedence, you are hopefully honest with your work.  That is the true stuff.  My videos and pictures are and always will be real because i am in this for the true mystery behind it.  I am not interested in showing the world the stuff I see.  I mearly want to find the proof, then research it.  If I get people who constantly think my findings are fake, I just remember the hundreds more who KNOW me and know that I am honest in my work.

  8. You can not tell if they are authentic. However, sometimes there are clues in the video or picture that it is fake, such as strings. This just takes careful thought and analysis of the video or picture. Sometimes there are clues that indicate that something is probably fake. For example, the camera pans a particular spot the moment before a UFO appears. This indicates the camera man already knew the UFO was going to appear.

I see some videos on youtube which were meant as fictitious shorts, and the video is being replayed as authentic paranormal footage, with the beginning cut off. Watchj out for this.

But honestly, just about anything can be faked in photos and videos, so its almost impossible to know the real thing, only the obvious fakes.

  9. One thing about You Tube videos, you can stop and examine the footage.

You can tell the difference between video footage of real time playing versus the camera stopping in between frames for an object to appear like it is moving.

Also, if an object is moving, look at the direction it is being pulled in.

Like a chair........if it appears that one leg is leading the other 3 chair legs, then there's probably a string attached.

However, if a chair starts to move on it's own, and glides smoothly across the floor with ease, then it's more realistic.

On You Tube videos it's easy to see the acrylic fishing line because it shows up on the video.

Most of your prank videos come from teenagers to young adults, so take that into consideration as well.

  10. I think most people will only believe what happens to them....and sometimes not even that! (I hope they have more trust in their drs. than they have in You Tube!)

  11. Hard to say, some people today are in the fake ghost busyness and their fakes are really convincing.
