  1. Start with a 4ft tank for both Bala sharks and Ghost Knife fish, and be prepared for them to outgrow it.

Bala sharks are fast swimming schooling fish that grow to a foot long eventually, and NEED swimming space.

Black Ghost Knives - they just grow big.

  2. Ghost knives come from the Amazon River. They like a their water on the soft side, Not at all acid, They like lots of live plants and a peaceful setting. Lots of rocks for them to hide in would be great too. They will thrive well on baby guppies and live brine shrimp. The bala shark is not a good choice. Try a red tailed shark instead.

  3. skip the bala you need a school of them and a 100 gallon tank.

One will die, there far too timid to handle life alone, its just cruel.

Other than that sounds like a nice set up. The 3ft would be about 72 gallons...

excellent choice for the knife, One knife species fish stays about 8 inches they others grow over a foot and a half so be prepared for a big fish.

remember they swim vertically so the tank has to be deep more than wide.

    good luck

    A 72 bow front......thats a nice tank.

  4. Apart from the fact that 2.5 feet is far too short a tank for a Ghost Knife, which will reach about a 16"+ in length, the very-active Bala Shark (which needs a school and a MUCH bigger tank) will cause a great deal of stress on the docile Knife.  If you want to attempt this, try a 6+ foot tank, at least 2 feet tall, and add 3-4 more Bala Sharks.
