Ghosts...?

Question

i kinda believed in ghosts until the other night when i was thinking to myself.. what are ghosts made up of? i know people are made up of cells, organelles, organs, tissue, and all that good stuff you learn about in science class.. but can someone please tell me (that is, if ghosts are real..) what ghosts are made of?

i think ghosts are made of energy that is left behind after someone dies or passes over,its like where ever you go you leave some energy behind,i believe we all do that,...have you ever been to an empty school hall,its really weird,there is no one there yet you can almost hear children's screams & laughter,..go to an abandend factory & you can feel a trace of the people that worked there or the power from the machines that has absorbed into the walls of the place!

Great question, I would love to understand this myself. I had an experience and am baffled at how something that does not exist (meaning visually or physically) can physically manipulate / interact with my surroundings. I could maybe accept that a residual haunting could be possible but not an intelligent haunting. Problem is I witnessed an intelligent haunting first hand, otherwise I would never believe it.

See there are two types of haunting, residual and intelligent.

The most common type of haunting is a residual haunting. A residual haunting can be described as an image that has been recorded in time and played back in a continuous loop over and over again through the years. Additionally, there is no intelligent ghost, spirit, or other entity directly involved. You may see the same scenes all the time, hear the same noises repeatedly, or even smell the same smells, usually at the same time of day. The image you are seeing will not even realize that you are there.

Intelligent Hauntings are the type of haunting that people usually think of when they think of a haunting. In an intelligent haunting, the entity is aware of its surroundings and interacts with the present.

These hauntings are considered to be intelligent because communication with the living usually occurs. This ghost is best described as the spirit of a person who once lived .

The spirit will usually manifest itself in physical ways like slamming, opening and unlocking doors and/or windows; weird sounds, disembodied voices, disturbance of electrical devices, cold chills and a strong presence like the feeling like you're being watched or the hair on the back of your neck standing up, goosebumps, etc.

Sometimes these spirits will hide things, move stuff around, turn things on and off or do other annoying things like a child looking for attention.

Well ghosts are real let me tell you that.......and I've seen and heard my dogs ghost........so this is from my couple of experiences.......ghosts can be made of a lot of things like clouds(I saw my dog in the sky, his body made of clouds with HUGE DETAIL ....... then he looked at me blinked turned his head and disappeared) then i saw the scool's ghost...first just a mist in the shape of a girl and then as glowing eyes in the window....ghosts visit us most of the time cause they're lonely.....

ghosts do not exist! I  believe the term you are looking for is spirtit. Ghost implies that the lifeform is evil, this is not the case. I have a spirit that watches me everywhere i go and it is great to know i have someone looking after me. Secondly, gohosts are made from whatever your sole is made from, perhaps like some of the other answer's and have said that they are made of alternate energy produced from the way they died. Anything is possible

It's basically impossible to describe what ghosts are made of... but it's easy to take and educated rough guess.

Ectoplasm has proved to be the ultimate source of ghostly fluids... while this "element" should be present on any sighting place, it's not... but it's the closest physical manifestation you get from them.

The ghosts that can "touch" you are felt like normal people, only detail that they're extremely cold (cold enough to leave a purple mark on your body), due the "fact" that "they're dead".

So, this suggests that also their mouth stinks (stated by experiences of ghosts talking on their victims face) and their eyes could be white... proving even more the fact that they're dead.

Their physical abilities rely on displacement and touch, which can't be seen with naked eye and it's nearly impossible without having a physical body. But they still do it while going through walls, doors and whatnot.

Leading me to believe that this faculty is either way, given under certain restrictions or they're actually capable of becoming humanly physical for a period of time (while still being invisible entities).

Due the fact that they still have arms and legs... this should be logically possible. But... such things will always be rough guesses because a guy with a degree,  wearing a white suit does not approve it until it's got it tied on a table or running inside of a cage.

Ghosts do Exist! It is biblical that they are the souls of the ones who have passed waiting in the after life  for christ to return. I know they are real! I am a member of the Church of jesus Christ to resurrect them just like you and I will someday..

Ghosts however, are forbidden to communicate with us but sometimes they can find ways..They can see us but we cannot see them. There is no sense of time on the other side either.

swear to you that I used to have a ghost in my wall!!! I used to knock to him and he/she would knock back!! It was crazy cause I would knock a pattern and he would knock a different pattern! or start slow and start knocking faster up and down the wall!  I did this for a couple years!

  I'm not afraid of ghosts cause they are just regular people BUT ghosts are the same people on the other side as they were in life! You dont change who you are when your body and soul seperate so some ghosts are mean or like to be alone or whatever...

  The bible gives all this information. I dont know why people dont beleive in god cause he does exist and satan finds ways to make them think otherwise. In death you CANNOT ignore god and cannot change the wrong you do in life if you do ignore his help so be careful how you live in life.

People spend their whole lives ignoring gods existance but the last person they talk to is GOD.. Why do you think that is?

Based on my 10 years of research in the field, Ghosts are just energy.  There are many different types of ghosts and hauntings, but generally they have a conscience and memory of their former selves, but I don't believe they have any mass to them.  They are like electricity, and emits an electro-magnetic field.  A full apparition takes alot of energy and will leave ectoplasm (jelly like substance) that disolves quickly.

  I have seen ORBS (which are common at haunted locations) and have seen 1 apparition in the past 10 years of my research.  It looked to me like a thick FOG, but lasted only a few seconds.   Ghosts drain energy from naturally occuring  & man-made electricity.  By using an infrared camera, you can capture these energy fields that are usually naked to the human eye on tape. I strongly believe that this is part of the make up of ghosts.

They don't exist.  All of the answers above make absolutely zero sense.  

Some people say they're made of 'energy' but the definition of energy is 'ability to do work.'  Does it make sense to say that ghosts are made of the ability to do work?  Of course not, those people have no idea what energy even is.  

There's the ectoplasm answer, that's another nonsense answer.  Ectoplasm only exists in the ghostbusters movies.

There's a person who says 'alternate realities.'  But the definition of 'reality' necessarily means there can be no such thing as an alternate reality.  There is that which is real, and that which isn't.

One person says there's such a thing as 'residual hauntings' with 'images recorded in time and played back in a loop' but without any proposed mechanism by which this can happen it just a fairy tale.

Truth is ghosts just don't exist.  This can be proven very simply with the law of conservation of matter and energy.  It's impossible for something to exist that can selectively move through some physical objects (like walls) and touch others (like slamming doors.)  That just can't happen.
