Gian Paolo Dallara says Sauber unhappy to score a single point in 2011 Singapore GP – Formula 1 news
Gian Paolo Dallara, who is the head of track engineering of Sauber-Ferrari, has said that the team is unhappy with their 2011 Singapore Grand Prix results, as they could manage only a single point at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Dallara added that Sauber are not happy with one point, as they were expecting better than what they achieved in the end of the race weekend on Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Singapore.
Sauber received a single point from their driver Sergio Perez in Singapore. However, they are not satisfied with the race results, as they were expecting a better show from both of their drivers at the Marina Bay Circuit.
The team driver, Perez was involved had a contact with Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher during the Singapore race. The collision eliminated Schumacher from the Grand Prix and Perez finished his race at the 10th place
in the end.
The Mexican talked to the media and stated that after the accident with Schumacher, he thinks taking tenth position in the Singapore Grand Prix was the best result for him. In addition, he mentioned that he had to go into the pitlane earlier due to a puncture
and dropped his position at that point.
Perez commented, “For my second stop I had to pit earlier because I had a puncture after the accident with Michael (Schumacher), and then I had to do a very long last stint with the second set of soft tyres. It is a shame to have lost a place to Felipe (Massa)
in the end, but the tyres were finished and I couldn't defend anymore.”
On the other hand, his teammate Kamui Kobayashi stated that his C30 car was competitive during the Singapore Grand Prix.
Kobayashi mentioned, “This was a very difficult weekend for me. Our pace all weekend was actually okay, but in the race, due to traffic and a mistake with the strategy when the Safety Car was on the track, it didn't work out. I was very surprised when I
got the drive through penalty, because I didn't see any blue flags.”
Let’s see how Sauber perform in the last five rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
